History of the Coin

The coin on the bottle is a reproduction of the coin of one of the most importand rulers in the History of time; Alexander the Great. This coin was produced for the Kitio region. Kitio or ‘Kittim’ which is situated in todays Larnaca region, used to be one of the richest kingdoms of ancient Cyprus and had declined in about 1000 B.C. by the Myceneans. Alexander the Great had liberated  Cyprus from the Persians in 333 B.C., and many Ptolemaic kingdoms of the time honoured him by printing such special coins. Depicted on this importand coin is the Winged Victory who holds a spear in her left arm while on the very side is written the name of Alexander The Great, starting with the initials TK which resemble the region of Kition.
